The phenomena of interference and diffraction lead us to believe
that light is a wave. Further we have learnt that it is a
transverse
electromagnetic wave.
But there are several experiments like the photo-electric effect
and the Compton effect which cannot be explained by the wave
theory of light. Here we briefly discuss the Compton effect.
